Contac Non-Drowsy Cold & Flu Dual Relief – 18 Tablets

Contac Non-Drowsy Cold & Flu Dual Relief tablets are a combination medicine used to relieve the symptoms of colds and flu, including headache, blocked nose, runny nose, and sore throat. As the name suggests, this medicine is formulated to be non-drowsy, making it suitable for use during the day.

    How It Works

This medicine contains two active ingredients that work together to tackle cold and flu symptoms. Paracetamol is a well-known painkiller and fever reducer that helps to ease headaches, sore throats, and high temperature. Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride is a decongestant that works by narrowing the blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing swelling and relieving a blocked or runny nose.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over should take 2 tablets up to four times a day. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. This medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • People who are allergic to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine, or any other ingredient in the product
    • People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have taken them within the last 14 days
    • People with severe high blood pressure (hypertension) or severe heart disease
    • People with an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
    • People with glaucoma
    • People with difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate
    • People who regularly drink large amounts of alcohol

    Interactions

Pseudoephedrine can interact with several medicines, including other decongestants, antidepressants (particularly MAOIs and tricyclics), medicines for high blood pressure, and medicines for heart conditions. Paracetamol may interact with blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin and certain epilepsy medicines. Avoid taking other paracetamol-containing products at the same time to prevent exceeding the safe daily dose. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Pseudoephedrine is generally not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, as it may affect blood flow. Pseudoephedrine passes into breast milk and is not recommended whilst breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol whilst taking this medicine, particularly because paracetamol combined with regular or heavy alcohol consumption can increase the risk of liver damage. Alcohol may also worsen some cold and flu symptoms.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Contac Non-Drowsy Cold & Flu Dual Relief is formulated to be non-drowsy; however, some people may still experience dizziness or other side effects that could affect their ability to drive or operate machinery. If you feel affected in any way, do not drive or use machinery.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
