    Description

Carbomer Eye Gel 0.2% w/w – 10g (Brand May Vary)

Carbomer Eye Gel 0.2% is a lubricating eye gel used to relieve the symptoms of dry eye syndrome, including dryness, irritation, and discomfort. It is suitable for adults and children and provides long-lasting relief by forming a protective, moisturising layer over the surface of the eye.

    How It Works

Carbomer is a gel-forming polymer that mimics the natural tear film of the eye. When applied, it spreads evenly over the eye’s surface and holds moisture in place for longer than standard eye drops, helping to soothe and protect the eye. Because it is a gel, it tends to stay in contact with the eye for an extended period, making it particularly useful for nighttime use or for those with more severe dry eye symptoms.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children: Apply one drop (a small amount of gel) into the affected eye(s) up to four times daily, or as directed by your doctor. Tilt your head back slightly, pull down the lower eyelid, and apply the gel into the pocket formed. Blink gently to spread the gel. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying the gel and wait at least 30 minutes before reinserting. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Interactions

Carbomer Eye Gel is not known to interact significantly with other medicines when used as directed. If you are using other eye drops or eye medications, apply them at least 15–30 minutes before applying the carbomer gel, as the gel may prevent other medicines from being absorbed properly. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Carbomer Eye Gel is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding as it acts locally on the eye’s surface and is not expected to be absorbed into the bloodstream in significant amounts. However, if the formulation contains preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride, extra caution is advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Carbomer Eye Gel and alcohol. This product is applied directly to the eye and is not absorbed into the body in meaningful quantities, so alcohol consumption is not expected to affect its safety or effectiveness.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Carbomer Eye Gel may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after application. You should wait until your vision is completely clear before driving or operating machinery. It is advisable to apply the gel at times when you do not need to drive shortly afterwards, for example at bedtime.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Once opened, discard the tube after 28 days, even if some gel remains. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
