    Description

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free Suspension Strawberry – 200ml

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free Suspension is a strawberry-flavoured liquid medicine for children aged 6 years and over. It contains paracetamol and is used to relieve mild to moderate pain — such as headaches, toothache, and sore throats — and to reduce fever.

    How It Works

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain and raising body temperature. By reducing these chemicals, paracetamol helps to ease discomfort and bring down a high temperature.

    Directions for Use

This medicine is for children aged 6 to 12 years. Always use the measuring device provided and give doses by mouth. Recommended doses are as follows:
    • Children aged 6–8 years: 5 ml (250 mg)
    • Children aged 8–10 years: 7.5 ml (375 mg)
    • Children aged 10–12 years: 10 ml (500 mg)

Doses may be given up to 4 times in 24 hours. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give more than 4 doses in 24 hours. If symptoms do not improve within 24 hours, consult a doctor. Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 250 mg per 5 ml

    Possible Side Effects

Calpol SixPlus is generally well tolerated when used as directed. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
    • Skin rash or allergic reaction
    • Redness or swelling of the skin
    • Low blood pressure (rare, if given in hospital settings)
    • Blood disorders such as thrombocytopaenia (very rare)
    • Liver or kidney problems with prolonged or excessive use

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not give this medicine if the child:
    • Is allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in the product
    • Is under 6 years of age
    • Has severe liver or kidney problems
    • Is already taking another medicine containing paracetamol (to avoid exceeding the maximum dose)
    • Has a rare inherited condition such as phenylketonuria — check the ingredients carefully as the product contains aspartame

    Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with certain medicines. Be particularly cautious if the child is taking:
    • Warfarin or other anticoagulants (blood thinners) — regular paracetamol use may increase the anticoagulant effect
    • Other medicines containing paracetamol (risk of overdose)
    • Medicines for epilepsy such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, or phenobarbital
    • Colestyramine (cholesterol-lowering medicine)
    • Metoclopramide or domperidone (used for nausea)

Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

This medicine is intended for children aged 6 years and over and is not intended for use by adults, pregnant women, or those who are breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

This product is formulated for children, and alcohol should not be given to children. The suspension itself is sugar-free and does not contain alcohol as an excipient. However, children taking this medicine should not be given any alcohol-containing products concurrently.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free Suspension does not typically cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. However, the underlying illness for which it is being taken (such as fever or pain) may itself affect alertness, so care should always be taken.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Once opened, use within 3 months. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
