    Buscomint Peppermint Oil 0.2ml Gastro-Resistant – 24 Soft Capsules

Buscomint Peppermint Oil Gastro-Resistant Soft Capsules are a herbal remedy used to relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including abdominal pain, cramps, bloating, and wind. Each capsule contains 0.2ml of peppermint oil and is specially coated to release in the intestine rather than the stomach.

    How It Works

Peppermint oil contains a naturally occurring compound called menthol, which helps to relax the smooth muscles of the gut wall. This antispasmodic action reduces painful muscle cramps and spasms in the bowel, helping to relieve the discomfort associated with IBS. The gastro-resistant coating ensures the capsule passes through the stomach intact and releases the peppermint oil directly in the intestines, where it is needed most.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take 1 capsule three times daily, ideally 30 to 60 minutes before meals. Swallow the capsules whole with a glass of water — do not chew or crush them. The capsules should not be taken immediately after food, as this may cause heartburn. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Peppermint oil 0.2ml (per capsule)

    Possible Side Effects

    • Heartburn or a burning sensation in the mouth or throat
    • Perianal irritation (a burning feeling around the back passage)
    • Nausea
    • Allergic reactions, including skin rash or itching
    • Headache

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • Anyone with a known allergy to peppermint oil or any other ingredient in the capsule
    • People with achlorhydria (a condition where the stomach produces little or no acid)
    • People with gallstones, bile duct obstruction, or other serious liver or gallbladder conditions — consult a doctor first

    Interactions

Buscomint is not known to interact with many common medicines; however, antacids or medicines that reduce stomach acid (such as proton pump inhibitors) may cause the gastro-resistant coating to dissolve too early, potentially leading to heartburn. Avoid taking antacids at the same time as Buscomint. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of peppermint oil during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. It is therefore not recommended for use during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding without medical guidance. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There are no known interactions between peppermint oil and alcohol. However, alcohol can irritate the gut and may worsen IBS symptoms, so it is advisable to drink in moderation when managing a bowel condition.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Buscomint Peppermint Oil capsules are not known to cause drowsiness or affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. You should be safe to drive as normal whilst taking this medicine.
