    Description

    Allacan 10mg – 30 Tablets

Allacan 10mg Tablets contain cetirizine hydrochloride, a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of hayfever and other allergies, including sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, skin rashes, itching, and hives.

    How It Works

Cetirizine works by blocking histamine receptors in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical released by your immune system during an allergic reaction, and it is responsible for causing symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and a runny nose. By blocking histamine, cetirizine helps to reduce and relieve these uncomfortable symptoms.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take one 10mg tablet once daily with water. The tablet can be taken with or without food. Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours. This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age in this tablet form. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Interactions

Cetirizine may interact with sedatives, sleeping tablets, anxiety medicines, or other medicines that can cause drowsiness, potentially increasing the sedative effect. Theophylline (used for breathing conditions) may also increase cetirizine’s effects if taken together. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of cetirizine during pregnancy has not been fully established, and it is not recommended for use during the first trimester. Cetirizine passes into breast milk and should be avoided by breastfeeding mothers. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Although cetirizine is classed as non-drowsy, drinking alcohol while taking this medicine may increase feelings of drowsiness or dizziness. It is advisable to avoid or limit alcohol consumption whilst taking Allacan 10mg Tablets.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Allacan 10mg is described as a non-drowsy antihistamine; however, some people may still experience drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision when taking cetirizine. You should assess how this medicine affects you before driving or operating machinery. If you feel drowsy, do not drive or use tools or machines.
