Actifed Multi-Action tablets are used to relieve the symptoms of colds, flu, and allergies, including nasal congestion, a runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes. They contain two active ingredients that work together to tackle these symptoms quickly and effectively.

How It Works

Actifed Multi-Action combines two active ingredients: pseudoephedrine, a decongestant that narrows the blood vessels in the nose to reduce swelling and relieve blocked sinuses, and triprolidine, an antihistamine that blocks the effects of histamine — the chemical responsible for causing sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose. Together, these ingredients provide multi-symptom relief from both cold and allergy-related complaints.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take 1 tablet up to three times a day. Do not exceed 3 tablets in 24 hours. This medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Possible Side Effects

• Drowsiness or sedation
• Dry mouth, nose, or throat
• Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
• Headache
• Increased heart rate or palpitations
• Nausea or upset stomach
• Difficulty passing urine
• Skin rash or itching

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• Children under 12 years of age
• People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have taken them in the last 14 days
• People with high blood pressure (hypertension) or heart disease
• People with an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
• People with closed-angle glaucoma
• People with difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate
• People with severe kidney or liver problems
• Anyone with a known allergy to pseudoephedrine, triprolidine, or any other ingredient in the product

Interactions

Actifed Multi-Action may interact with several medicines. MAOIs and some antidepressants (including tricyclics) can cause dangerous interactions with pseudoephedrine. Other decongestants, antihistamines, or sedating medicines (including sleeping tablets and some anxiety treatments) may increase the risk of side effects when combined with this product. Medicines used to treat high blood pressure may be less effective if taken alongside this product. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Pseudoephedrine may reduce blood flow to the placenta and is generally not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester. Triprolidine may also pass into breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol whilst taking Actifed Multi-Action tablets. Alcohol can increase the sedating effects of triprolidine, making drowsiness worse and impairing your ability to concentrate or react quickly.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Actifed Multi-Action contains triprolidine, an antihistamine that can cause drowsiness in some people. You should not drive, operate heavy machinery, or carry out tasks that require full alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. If you feel drowsy, do not drive or use machinery.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
