    What’s in This Pack

    • 3 x Ovex Family Pack Threadworm Treatment – 4 Tablets
    • Identical to the single boxe — same manufacturer, same product

    How It Works

Mebendazole works by blocking threadworms’ ability to absorb sugar (glucose), which is their only source of energy. Without glucose, the worms cannot survive and are naturally expelled from the body within a few days.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 2 years and over: take one tablet as a single dose. The tablet can be chewed, swallowed whole, or crushed. Because threadworms spread easily within households, it is recommended that all members of the family take a dose at the same time, even if they do not have symptoms. If reinfection occurs, a second dose may be taken after two weeks. This medicine is not suitable for children under 2 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Mebendazole 100 mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

Side effects with mebendazole are uncommon when used at the recommended single dose, but may include:
    • Stomach pain or discomfort
    • Diarrhoea
    • Flatulence (wind)
    • Skin rash or itching (rare)
    • Dizziness (rare)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 2 years of age
    • Anyone who is pregnant or suspects they may be pregnant
    • Anyone who is allergic to mebendazole or any of the other ingredients in this product
    • Anyone with a known hypersensitivity to benzimidazole compounds

    Interactions

Mebendazole may interact with certain medicines, including metronidazole and cimetidine, which can increase the levels of mebendazole in the body. High-dose mebendazole (used for other conditions) may also interact with medicines such as theophylline and some anticonvulsants, though this is less likely to be significant at the single dose used for threadworms. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Ovex is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester, as mebendazole may not be safe for the developing baby. Breastfeeding mothers should consult a healthcare professional before use, as small amounts of mebendazole may pass into breast milk. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between mebendazole and alcohol at the single dose used for threadworm treatment. However, as a general precaution, drinking alcohol while unwell or taking any medicine is not recommended.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Ovex is not known to cause drowsiness or affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. You should be safe to drive and carry out normal activities after taking this medicine.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
