Description
Maloff Protect 250mg/100mg Tablets – 24tablet 2 X – 12tablets
Maloff Protect contains two active ingredients — atovaquone and proguanil hydrochloride — and is used to prevent malaria in adults and children weighing 40 kg or more travelling to areas where malaria is present. It can also be used to treat malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum.
⸻
How It Works
Atovaquone and proguanil work together to kill the malaria parasite at different stages of its life cycle. Atovaquone disrupts the parasite’s ability to produce energy, while proguanil interferes with its ability to reproduce. Together, they provide effective protection against the most common and dangerous form of malaria.
⸻
Directions for Use
For prevention of malaria in adults and children over 40 kg: take one tablet once daily. Start taking the tablets 1–2 days before entering the malaria risk area, continue throughout your stay, and for 7 days after leaving the area. Tablets should be taken at the same time each day with food or a milky drink to help absorption. If you vomit within one hour of taking a tablet, take another one as soon as possible. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Maloff Protect is not recommended during pregnancy unless the benefit is considered to outweigh the risk, as there is limited safety data available.
