Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly Original is a versatile, fragrance-free skin protectant made from 100% pure petroleum jelly. It can be used to moisturise and soothe dry skin, protect minor cuts and grazes, relieve chapped lips, and help soothe nappy rash in babies.

How It Works

Petroleum jelly works by forming a thin, occlusive (sealing) barrier on the surface of the skin. This barrier locks in the skin’s natural moisture, prevents water loss, and shields the skin from environmental irritants, helping it to heal and stay hydrated.

Directions for Use

Apply a small amount of Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly to the affected area of skin as needed. It can be used on adults, children, and babies. For nappy rash, apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin at each nappy change. There is no restricted maximum frequency for topical use, but apply only as much as needed. Possible Side Effects

Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly is generally very well tolerated. Side effects are rare but may include:
• Skin irritation or redness at the site of application

• Blocked pores if used heavily on acne-prone skin

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• Do not use if you are allergic to petroleum jelly or any component of the product
• Avoid applying to deep wounds, puncture wounds, or serious burns without medical advice
• Avoid contact with eyes
• Do not use inside the nose, particularly in infants, as there is a risk of lipoid pneumonia with prolonged use

Interactions

Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly is not known to interact with other medicines when used as a topical skin protectant. However, as with any product applied to the skin, it may affect the absorption of other topical preparations applied to the same area. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly is generally considered safe to use externally during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If using on the breast area while breastfeeding, ensure the product is thoroughly removed before feeding. Store at room temperature, below 25°C, away from direct heat and sunlight. Keep the lid firmly closed when not in use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
