Ultra Chloraseptic Anaesthetic Throat Spray is a fast-acting spray used to relieve the pain and discomfort of sore throats in adults and children aged 6 years and over. It provides targeted, temporary relief directly at the site of pain.

How It Works

The active ingredient, benzocaine, is a local anaesthetic that works by temporarily numbing the nerve endings in the lining of your throat. This blocks pain signals from reaching the brain, providing quick, short-term relief from throat soreness and irritation.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 6 years and over: Spray 3 times directly into the back of the throat. Repeat every 2 to 3 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 8 doses in 24 hours. Do not exceed the recommended dose. This product is not suitable for children under 6 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.

Possible Side Effects

• Temporary numbness or tingling in the mouth or throat
• Mild irritation or burning sensation at the site of application
• Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing (rare but seek immediate medical attention if these occur)
• Methaemoglobinaemia (a rare but serious blood condition — seek urgent medical help if you notice pale, grey or blue skin, lips or nails, or feel confused or short of breath)

Who Should Not Use This Product

• Children under 6 years of age
• People who are allergic to benzocaine or any other ingredient in this product
• People with a known allergy to other local anaesthetics (particularly ester-type anaesthetics)
• People with certain blood disorders such as anaemia or conditions affecting haemoglobin (e.g., methaemoglobinaemia)
• People taking medicines that can cause methaemoglobinaemia (speak to your PillSorted pharmacist if unsure)

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not freeze. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
