    Description

    Sudafed Decongestant Liquid – 100ml

Sudafed Decongestant Liquid is used to relieve nasal congestion (a blocked nose) caused by colds, flu, hay fever, and catarrh — a build-up of mucus in the nose, throat, or chest. It contains pseudoephedrine, a well-established decongestant, to help you breathe more easily.

    How It Works

Pseudoephedrine works by narrowing the small blood vessels inside the lining of your nose and sinuses. When these blood vessels become swollen during a cold or allergic reaction, they cause that blocked, stuffy feeling — pseudoephedrine reduces this swelling so that air can pass through more freely.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over should take 10 ml (two 5 ml spoonfuls) up to four times a day. Leave at least four hours between doses. Do not take more than four doses in 24 hours. This medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Interactions

Sudafed Decongestant Liquid may interact with several medicines, including monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs — used for depression), other decongestants, beta-blockers, antihypertensives (blood pressure medicines), tricyclic antidepressants, and other stimulant medicines. Taking it alongside other products containing pseudoephedrine or similar decongestants may increase the risk of side effects. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Pseudoephedrine is generally not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, as it may affect blood flow. It can also pass into breast milk and may affect a nursing baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no specific interaction between pseudoephedrine and alcohol; however, drinking alcohol while you are unwell with a cold or flu is generally not advised as it may worsen dehydration and prolong recovery. If you have any concerns, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Sudafed Decongestant Liquid does not generally cause drowsiness, as pseudoephedrine is a stimulant. However, some people may experience dizziness, restlessness, or other effects that could affect their ability to drive or use machinery safely. If you feel affected in any way, do not drive or operate machinery.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not refrigerate. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
