Strepsils Honey & Lemon lozenges are an over-the-counter medicine used to relieve the pain and discomfort of a sore throat. They are suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over, and come in a pleasant honey and lemon flavour.

How It Works

Each lozenge contains two antiseptic ingredients — amylmetacresol and dichlorobenzyl alcohol — which work together to help kill the bacteria that can cause sore throats and mouth infections. As you slowly dissolve the lozenge in your mouth, these ingredients are released directly into the throat, helping to soothe irritation and reduce discomfort in the affected area.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 6 and over: allow one lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth. You may take one lozenge every 2 to 3 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 12 lozenges in 24 hours. Do not chew the lozenges — let them dissolve naturally. Children under 6 years should not use this product. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Possible Side Effects

Strepsils Honey & Lemon is generally well tolerated, but some people may experience:
• Hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions such as skin rash or itching
• Mouth or throat irritation
• Nausea
• Swelling of the lips, face, tongue, or throat (rare — seek immediate medical attention)

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• Children under 6 years of age
• People with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to amylmetacresol, dichlorobenzyl alcohol, or any other ingredient in the product
• People with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency (these lozenges contain sucrose)
• Anyone who has previously had an allergic reaction to this type of antiseptic lozenge

Interactions

Strepsils Honey & Lemon lozenges are not known to interact significantly with other medicines when used as directed. However, if you are taking any prescribed or over-the-counter medicines, it is always sensible to check before starting a new product. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

There is limited data on the use of amylmetacresol and dichlorobenzyl alcohol during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and these lozenges should be used with caution in these situations. Alcohol

There are no known interactions between Strepsils Honey & Lemon lozenges and alcohol. However, alcohol may irritate an already sore or inflamed throat, so it is advisable to avoid alcohol while you have throat symptoms.

Strepsils Honey & Lemon lozenges are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. They do not contain any ingredients known to cause drowsiness or impair concentration.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. No special storage requirements are needed for this product. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
