    Description

    Ovesse 1mg/g Vaginal Cream

Ovesse 1mg/g Vaginal Cream is a hormone replacement therapy specifically designed to treat vaginal atrophy and dryness associated with menopause. This topical oestrogen cream contains estriol, a naturally occurring oestrogen that helps restore moisture and elasticity to vaginal tissues, providing effective relief from uncomfortable symptoms such as dryness, itching, and discomfort during intercourse.

    How It Works

Ovesse contains estriol, a weak oestrogen that works locally in the vaginal area to restore the natural balance of hormones. During menopause, declining oestrogen levels cause the vaginal lining to become thinner, drier, and less elastic. Estriol helps to reverse these changes by stimulating the growth and repair of vaginal tissue, increasing natural lubrication, and restoring the normal acidic pH of the vagina. This local treatment provides targeted relief whilst minimising systemic hormone exposure.

    Directions for Use

Apply the cream using the applicator provided. The usual dose is one applicatorful (approximately 0.5g of cream containing 0.5mg estriol) inserted into the vagina once daily, preferably at bedtime. Treatment should typically continue for 2-3 weeks initially, after which the frequency may be reduced to 2-3 times per week for maintenance. Insert the applicator gently into the vagina and slowly press the plunger to release the cream. Clean the applicator after each use with warm soapy water. Always follow the dosage instructions provided or as directed by your healthcare professional.

    Active Ingredients

Each gram of cream contains 1mg of estriol. The cream also contains inactive ingredients including cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, lactic acid, sodium hydroxide, and purified water.

    Possible Side Effects

Most women tolerate Ovesse well, but some may experience side effects. Common side effects may include local irritation, itching, or burning sensation at the application site, breast tenderness, headache, or nausea. Vaginal discharge or bleeding may occur initially but usually settles with continued use. Less common side effects include abdominal pain, bloating, or changes in mood. Some women may experience increased vaginal infections due to changes in vaginal pH. If you experience persistent or severe side effects, discontinue use and consult your pharmacist or GP.

Who Should Not Use This Product

Do not use Ovesse if you are allergic to estriol or any of the other ingredients, pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of breast, endometrial, or other hormone-dependent cancers, have unexplained vaginal bleeding, have active or recent blood clots, severe liver disease, or porphyria. Consult your GP before use if you have a personal or family history of breast cancer, endometriosis, fibroids, gallbladder disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, migraine, epilepsy, or kidney problems. This product is not suitable for women who have not yet reached menopause.
