Otrivine Adult 0.1% Nasal Drops provide fast, effective relief from nasal congestion caused by colds, sinusitis, hay fever, and other allergic conditions. They help to quickly clear a blocked nose, making it easier to breathe.

How It Works

The active ingredient, xylometazoline hydrochloride, belongs to a group of medicines called decongestants. It works by narrowing the blood vessels inside the nose, which reduces swelling and congestion, allowing you to breathe more freely. The effect is usually felt within a few minutes and can last for up to 10 hours.

Directions for Use

For adults and children aged 12 years and over: tilt your head back slightly, then apply 2 to 3 drops into each nostril up to 3 times daily. Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days, as prolonged use may lead to rebound congestion. This product is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.

Possible Side Effects

• Temporary burning, stinging, or dryness inside the nose
• Sneezing after application
• Headache or dizziness
• Increased nasal discharge (runny nose)
• Rebound congestion (worsening blocked nose) if used for more than 7 days
• Rarely, rapid or irregular heartbeat or raised blood pressure

Who Should Not Use This Product

• Children under 12 years of age
• People who have had surgery that has exposed the covering of the brain (e.g., transsphenoidal hypophysectomy)
• People with dry nasal inflammation (rhinitis sicca)
• People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have stopped taking them within the last 14 days
• People with a known allergy to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any other ingredient in the product
• People with angle-closure glaucoma

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct light and heat. Once opened, discard the bottle after 28 days. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
