Description
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops 10ml
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops contain sodium cromoglicate 2% and are used to relieve the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis — an eye allergy that can cause red, itchy, watery, and irritated eyes. They are suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over.
⸻
How It Works
Sodium cromoglicate works by stabilising mast cells — special cells in the body that release chemicals such as histamine when they come into contact with an allergen like pollen, pet dander, or dust mites. By preventing these chemicals from being released, Opticrom helps to reduce inflammation and relieve the uncomfortable symptoms of eye allergies.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 6 years and over: instil 1 to 2 drops into each eye four times a day. The drops work best when used regularly, even when symptoms are mild. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and apply the drops without letting the tip touch your eye or any other surface. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

⸻
Interactions
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops are not known to interact significantly with other medicines. However, if you are using any other eye drops or eye preparations, leave at least 5 minutes between applications to avoid dilution. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The safety of sodium cromoglicate eye drops during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. Although the amount absorbed into the bloodstream through eye drops is very small, caution is advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops and alcohol. These eye drops are applied topically to the eye and are not taken by mouth, so alcohol is not expected to affect how the medicine works.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after instillation. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision has fully cleared. This effect is usually brief and resolves within a few minutes.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, discard the eye drops 4 weeks after first opening, even if there is still product remaining in the bottle. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
