Oilatum Plus Antiseptic Bath Emollient is a medicated bath additive used to treat eczema that is prone to becoming infected. It helps to moisturise and protect dry, sensitive skin whilst reducing the risk of bacterial infection.

How It Works

This product contains three active ingredients that work together to care for problem skin. Light liquid paraffin forms a protective, moisturising layer on the skin to prevent water loss and soothe dryness, whilst triclosan and benzalkonium chloride are antiseptic agents that help to kill bacteria on the skin, reducing the chance of infection in eczema-prone areas.

Directions for Use

For adults, children, and infants over 1 month of age. Add the recommended amount of emollient to a warm bath — typically 1–2 capfuls for adults and 1 capful for children — and soak for 10–20 minutes. Possible Side Effects

• Skin irritation or redness at the site of application
• Itching or a burning sensation on the skin
• Allergic skin reactions such as a rash
• The bath or shower surface may become slippery — take care when getting in and out of the bath

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• People who are allergic to light liquid paraffin, triclosan, benzalkonium chloride, or any other ingredient in this product
• Do not use on infants under 1 month of age unless directed by a doctor
• Do not apply directly to the skin undiluted — always add to bath water first
• Do not use near an open flame or naked flame as liquid paraffin-based products can be a fire hazard if they soak into fabric

Interactions

Oilatum Plus Antiseptic Bath Emollient is applied externally and is not expected to interact significantly with other medicines. However, if you are using other topical skin preparations, allow adequate time between applications. There is limited specific data on the use of this product during pregnancy or breastfeeding. As it is applied topically (to the skin) and not taken orally, systemic absorption is considered to be low. Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
