Description
Nytol Original 25mg – 20 Tablets
Nytol Original 25mg tablets are a short-term sleep aid used to relieve temporary sleeplessness and help you fall asleep more easily. They contain diphenhydramine hydrochloride, an antihistamine with well-established sedative properties.
⸻
How It Works
Diphenhydramine hydrochloride works by blocking histamine receptors in the brain, which produces a calming, drowsy effect. This helps you to fall asleep more quickly and enjoy a more restful night’s sleep.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and young people aged 16 years and over should take 2 tablets (50mg) by mouth approximately 20 minutes before bedtime. Do not take more than 2 tablets in any 24-hour period, and do not use for more than 2 consecutive nights without seeking medical advice. This medicine is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Interactions
Nytol Original may interact with other medicines that cause drowsiness, such as sleeping tablets, anxiety medicines, antidepressants, and certain antihistamines. It may also interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and some medicines used to treat stomach problems. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Nytol Original is not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding, as diphenhydramine may pass into breast milk and could affect your baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
You should not drink alcohol whilst taking Nytol Original. Alcohol increases the sedative effect of diphenhydramine, which can lead to excessive drowsiness and may be dangerous, particularly if you need to drive or operate machinery the following day.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Nytol Original causes drowsiness, which may persist into the following morning. You should not drive, operate machinery, or perform any activity requiring full alertness until you are certain this effect has worn off completely. If in doubt, do not drive.
