Description
Numark Hayfever Relief 10mg – 14 Tablets
Numark Hayfever Relief 10mg Tablets contain cetirizine hydrochloride, a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and other allergies in adults and children aged 6 years and over. It helps to ease sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, a runny nose, and skin reactions caused by allergens such as pollen, pet dander, and dust mites.
⸻
How It Works
Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that works by blocking histamine H1 receptors in the body. When you come into contact with an allergen, your body releases histamine, which triggers allergy symptoms. By blocking these receptors, cetirizine reduces and relieves those symptoms quickly and effectively, with effects lasting up to 24 hours from a single dose.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over should take one 10mg tablet once daily, swallowed whole with water. Children aged 6 to 11 years should take half a tablet (5mg) twice daily — speak to your PillSorted pharmacist before giving this medicine to a child. The tablet can be taken with or without food. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Interactions
Cetirizine may interact with other medicines that cause drowsiness, including sleeping tablets, sedatives, and certain anxiety medications, potentially increasing tiredness. Theophylline (used for asthma) may slightly increase the effect of cetirizine. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Cetirizine is not recommended during pregnancy as its safety has not been fully established. It is also not recommended during breastfeeding, as cetirizine may pass into breast milk. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
You should avoid drinking alcohol whilst taking cetirizine, as it may increase the risk of drowsiness and dizziness. Even though cetirizine is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine, combining it with alcohol can still impair your alertness and reaction times.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Although cetirizine is classified as a non-drowsy antihistamine, some people may still experience drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. You should not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you. Take extra care if you are sensitive to antihistamines.
