Nicorette 4mg Freshmint Gum is a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) used to help people stop or cut down on smoking. It helps relieve the cravings and withdrawal symptoms that can make quitting smoking so difficult.

How It Works

Each piece of gum contains 4mg of nicotine polacrilex, which releases nicotine slowly as you chew. This nicotine is absorbed through the lining of your mouth, helping to satisfy your body’s craving for nicotine without the harmful chemicals found in cigarette smoke. The refreshing freshmint flavour also makes the experience more pleasant.

Directions for Use

The 4mg strength is recommended for people who smoke their first cigarette within 30 minutes of waking up, or who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day. Use the “chew and rest” method: chew the gum slowly until you notice a strong taste or tingling sensation, then rest it between your cheek and gum until the taste fades, then chew again — repeat this cycle for about 30 minutes. Do not swallow the gum or eat and drink 15 minutes before or during use. The recommended maximum is 15 pieces per day. This product is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• Children under 12 years of age
• People with a known allergy to nicotine or any other ingredient in the gum
• Non-smokers
• People who have recently had a heart attack or stroke (seek medical advice first)
• People with severe heart disease or irregular heartbeat (seek medical advice first)
• People with uncontrolled overactive thyroid (seek medical advice first)
• People with a tumour of the adrenal gland (phaeochromocytoma) — seek medical advice first

Interactions

Stopping smoking — with or without nicotine replacement therapy — can affect the levels of some medicines in your body, such as theophylline, clozapine, and warfarin, meaning doses may need to be adjusted. Nicotine replacement products are not known to have direct drug interactions, but it is important to inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Stopping smoking completely is the safest option during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are unable to stop smoking without help, nicotine replacement therapy is considered safer than continuing to smoke, but should only be used under medical supervision during pregnancy. Intermittent-use forms such as gum may be preferred over patches during pregnancy. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

There are no known interactions between Nicorette 4mg Freshmint Gum and alcohol. However, alcohol can sometimes trigger cravings to smoke, so it is worth being mindful of this when trying to quit.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Nicorette 4mg Freshmint Gum does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you experience dizziness as a side effect, take care until this passes.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
