    Description

    Nicorette 2mg Freshmint Gum – 210 Pieces

Nicorette 2mg Freshmint Gum is a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) used to help you stop smoking. It helps relieve cravings and withdrawal symptoms that can occur when you give up cigarettes, making it easier to quit for good.

    How It Works

Each piece of gum contains nicotine polacrilex, which releases a controlled amount of nicotine into your body as you chew. This nicotine is absorbed through the lining of your mouth, helping to reduce the urge to smoke and easing the unpleasant feelings that can come with quitting, without the harmful chemicals found in cigarette smoke.

    Directions for Use

Nicorette 2mg gum is suitable for adults and young people aged 12 and over who smoke fewer than 20 cigarettes a day. Chew one piece of gum slowly until you notice a strong taste or tingling sensation, then rest it between your cheek and gum until the taste fades; repeat this “chew and rest” technique for about 30 minutes. Do not chew more than 15 pieces per day, and aim to reduce the number of pieces used over time with a view to stopping completely. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Nicotine polacrilex equivalent to nicotine 2mg per piece of gum

    Possible Side Effects

    • Hiccups or belching
    • Sore mouth, throat, or jaw
    • Nausea or stomach discomfort
    • Headache
    • Dizziness
    • Increased saliva production
    • Skin irritation around the mouth

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • People who are non-smokers or occasional smokers
    • Anyone with a known allergy to nicotine or any other ingredient in the gum
    • People who have recently had a heart attack, stroke, or severe heart rhythm disorder (seek medical advice before use)
    • Those with a condition causing difficulty swallowing or severe dental problems (chewing gum may not be suitable)

    Interactions

Nicotine can interact with certain medicines, including theophylline, clozapine, and ropinirole — stopping smoking (with or without NRT) may alter the blood levels of these drugs. Some medicines used to treat depression or high blood pressure may also be affected when you quit smoking. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Stopping smoking completely is the safest option during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are unable to stop without help, nicotine replacement therapy is considered preferable to continued smoking, but should only be used under medical supervision. Intermittent-dose forms such as gum are preferred over patches during pregnancy where possible. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between Nicorette 2mg Freshmint Gum and alcohol. However, drinking alcohol may reduce your motivation to quit smoking, so it is worth being mindful of your alcohol intake while trying to give up cigarettes.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Nicorette 2mg Freshmint Gum is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machinery. However, if you experience dizziness as a side effect, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel better.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
