Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray 100 Sprays

Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray contains beclomethasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid that helps relieve the nasal symptoms of hay fever (allergic rhinitis) in adults aged 18 and over. It is used to reduce sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, and nasal itching caused by pollen and other airborne allergens.

    How It Works

The active ingredient, beclomethasone dipropionate, is a corticosteroid (steroid) that works directly inside the nose to reduce inflammation caused by allergic reactions. By calming the body’s immune response to allergens such as pollen, it helps to ease nasal swelling, congestion, and irritation. It works best when used regularly, as it may take a few days to reach its full effect.

    Directions for Use

This nasal spray is for adults aged 18 years and over only. The usual starting dose is 2 sprays into each nostril twice a day (morning and evening), or 1 spray into each nostril up to 4 times a day. Once symptoms are under control, the dose may be reduced to 1 spray into each nostril twice a day. The total daily dose should not exceed 8 sprays (400 micrograms). Shake the bottle gently before use and prime the pump if using for the first time. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Beclomethasone dipropionate 50 micrograms per spray

    Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, this nasal spray can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Common side effects include:
    • Unpleasant taste or smell
    • Dryness or irritation inside the nose or throat
    • Sneezing immediately after use
    • Nosebleeds or blood-streaked mucus
    • Headache

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not use this nasal spray if:
    • You are under 18 years of age
    • You are allergic to beclomethasone dipropionate or any of the other ingredients
    • You have a current nasal infection that has not been treated
    • You have recently had nasal surgery or injury — consult your doctor before use
    • You are already taking other steroid medicines (including tablets, creams, or other nasal sprays) — seek advice from your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist first

    Interactions

Beclomethasone nasal spray is generally unlikely to interact with most common medicines when used at the recommended dose. However, using other steroid-containing medicines at the same time (such as steroid creams, inhalers, or tablets) may increase the overall amount of steroid your body absorbs, which could increase the risk of side effects. Certain medicines used to treat HIV or fungal infections (such as ritonavir or ketoconazole) may increase beclomethasone levels in the body. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of beclomethasone nasal spray during pregnancy has not been fully established, and it is generally recommended to avoid steroid nasal sprays in the first trimester if possible. If you are breastfeeding, small amounts of the medicine may pass into breast milk, although this is considered unlikely to be harmful at normal doses. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known significant interaction between beclomethasone dipropionate nasal spray and alcohol. This medicine is applied directly into the nose and is unlikely to be affected by alcohol consumption. However, if you have any concerns, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Unlike some oral antihistamines used for hay fever, beclomethasone nasal spray does not cause drowsiness. However, if you experience any unexpected side effects that affect your alertness, do not drive or use machinery.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not freeze. Keep the cap on the bottle when not in use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
