Description
Gina 10mg Vaginal Tablets – 24 Pack
Gina 10mg Vaginal Tablets are a local hormone replacement therapy (HRT) used to relieve vaginal symptoms of the menopause, such as dryness, itching, burning, and discomfort during sex. They contain estradiol, a form of oestrogen, and are available without a prescription for women aged 50 and over who have not had a period for at least one year.
⸻
How It Works
During and after the menopause, oestrogen levels in the body fall, which can cause the lining of the vagina to become thinner, drier, and less elastic. Each Gina tablet is inserted directly into the vagina, where it releases a small amount of estradiol locally to help restore and maintain the vaginal lining, relieving dryness and irritation without significantly raising oestrogen levels in the rest of the body.
⸻
Directions for Use
Gina 10mg Vaginal Tablets are for use in women aged 50 and over who have not had a period for at least one year. One tablet is inserted into the vagina once daily for the first two weeks (the initial treatment period), then one tablet is inserted twice weekly (every 3 to 4 days) as a maintenance dose. Each tablet comes with an applicator to help with insertion. Treatment should be reviewed after 24 weeks (approximately 6 months). Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Interactions
Because Gina delivers oestrogen locally to the vagina with very little absorption into the bloodstream, clinically significant interactions with other medicines are unlikely at the recommended dose. However, medicines that affect liver enzymes — such as certain anticonvulsants (e.g. carbamazepine, phenytoin), antibiotics (e.g. rifampicin), and herbal remedies such as St John’s Wort — may theoretically affect how oestrogen is processed in the body. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Gina 10mg Vaginal Tablets are not intended for use during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding, and should only be used by women who have gone through the menopause. If there is any possibility you could be pregnant, do not use this product. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known direct interaction between Gina 10mg Vaginal Tablets and alcohol. However, drinking alcohol regularly can affect oestrogen levels in the body and may increase certain risks associated with HRT, so it is advisable to keep alcohol consumption within recommended guidelines.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Gina 10mg Vaginal Tablets are not known to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you experience any unexpected side effects that affect your alertness or concentration, seek medical advice before driving.
