Dentinox Infant Colic Drops are an oral solution designed to relieve the painful symptoms of wind and colic in babies and infants. They can be given from birth onwards to help ease trapped wind and the discomfort it causes.

How It Works

The active ingredient, simeticone, is an anti-foaming agent that works by breaking up the small gas bubbles trapped in your baby’s stomach and intestines. This allows the gas to be released more easily, relieving bloating, discomfort, and the crying associated with colic. Simeticone is not absorbed into the body and works purely in the gut, making it gentle for newborns.

Directions for Use

Dentinox Infant Colic Drops can be given to babies from birth. The usual dose is 2.5 ml (half a teaspoon), which can be added to a bottle of feed or given directly by spoon before or during each feed. The drops may be given at each feed, up to a maximum of 6 doses in 24 hours. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.

Possible Side Effects

Simeticone is generally very well tolerated, and side effects are uncommon. However, the following have been reported:
• Mild skin reactions or allergy in sensitive individuals
• Loose stools in rare cases
• Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as rash or itching

Who Should Not Use This Product

• Babies or infants known to be allergic to simeticone or any other ingredient in the product
• Do not use if your baby has a known sensitivity to any of the excipients listed in the patient information leaflet
• Consult your doctor if your baby’s colic symptoms are severe or do not improve, as this could indicate an underlying condition
• If in doubt, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist before use

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
