Cystitis Relief Sachets are a two-day course treatment designed to relieve the uncomfortable symptoms of cystitis in adults and children aged 6 and over. Each pack contains 6 cranberry-flavoured sachets that dissolve in water to provide fast-acting relief from the burning and stinging sensation when passing urine.

How It Works

The active ingredient, sodium citrate dihydrate, works by making your urine less acidic. This helps to soothe and relieve the burning, stinging pain that cystitis can cause when you pass urine, making you feel more comfortable while your body fights the infection.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 6 and over: dissolve the contents of one sachet in a glass of water (approximately 200 ml) and drink. Take one sachet three times a day for up to two days. Do not exceed 3 sachets in 24 hours. This product is not recommended for children under 6 years of age. If symptoms have not improved after two days, speak to your doctor. Possible Side Effects

• Mild stomach upset or nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Stomach discomfort or bloating
• Raised sodium levels with prolonged or excessive use (symptoms may include swelling or thirst)

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• People who are allergic to sodium citrate or any other ingredient in the product
• People with kidney disease or kidney problems
• People on a controlled or low-sodium (low-salt) diet
• People with high blood pressure (hypertension) — speak to your doctor before use
• People with heart conditions — speak to your doctor before use
• Children under 6 years of age

Interactions

Sodium citrate may interact with certain antibiotics and medicines that are affected by changes in urine acidity, such as some used to treat urinary tract infections. It may also interact with medicines containing lithium or potassium. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

This product contains sodium, which may not be suitable during pregnancy, particularly if you have been advised to monitor your salt intake. The safety of this medicine during breastfeeding has not been fully established. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

There is no specific interaction between sodium citrate and alcohol; however, alcohol can irritate the bladder and may worsen cystitis symptoms. It is advisable to avoid alcohol whilst experiencing cystitis and during treatment.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Cystitis Relief Sachets are not known to cause drowsiness or to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. You should be safe to drive as normal whilst taking this medicine.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
