    Description

    Cyclizine 50mg – 30 Tablets

Cyclizine 50mg Tablets are an antihistamine medicine used to prevent and relieve nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. They are commonly used for motion sickness (travel sickness), vertigo, and nausea associated with other medical conditions.

    How It Works

Cyclizine works by blocking histamine receptors in the brain, particularly in an area called the vomiting centre. By doing this, it reduces the nerve signals that trigger feelings of nausea and the urge to vomit, helping you feel more settled and comfortable.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: Take one 50mg tablet up to three times a day. For travel sickness, take one tablet about two hours before your journey. Children aged 6 to 11 years: 25mg (half a tablet) up to three times a day — this should be under medical supervision. This medicine is not recommended for children under 6 years of age. Swallow the tablet whole with water; it can be taken with or without food. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Cyclizine hydrochloride 50mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Drowsiness or sedation
    • Dry mouth
    • Headache
    • Blurred vision
    • Difficulty passing urine (urinary retention)
    • Constipation
    • Restlessness or excitability (more common in children)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 6 years of age
    • People with a known allergy to cyclizine or any of the other ingredients
    • People with porphyria (a rare blood disorder)
    • People with severe heart failure or recent heart attack (without medical advice)
    • People with an enlarged prostate or difficulty passing urine
    • People with glaucoma (raised pressure in the eye)
    • People with severe liver problems

    Interactions

Cyclizine may interact with other medicines that cause drowsiness, including sleeping tablets, anxiety medicines, antidepressants, and strong painkillers such as opioids — increasing the sedative effect. It may also interact with anticholinergic medicines (such as some bladder or bowel medicines), and can reduce the effects of certain medicines used to treat gastrointestinal conditions. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Cyclizine has been widely used during pregnancy, particularly for morning sickness, but it should only be taken under medical supervision as it crosses the placenta. There is limited information on the use of cyclizine during breastfeeding, and it may pass into breast milk in small amounts. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking cyclizine. Alcohol can significantly increase the sedative (drowsy) effects of cyclizine, making you feel much more sleepy and impairing your ability to function safely.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Cyclizine commonly causes drowsiness and can impair your ability to drive or operate machinery safely. You should not drive, cycle, or use heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you. This effect may be made worse by alcohol or other sedating medicines.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
