    Description

    Crescent Paracetamol 500mg – 32 Caplets

Crescent Paracetamol 500mg Caplets are a trusted over-the-counter pain reliever and fever reducer, suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over. They provide effective relief from mild to moderate pain, including headaches, migraines, toothache, sore throats, period pain, and neuralgia.

    How It Works

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the brain called prostaglandins, which are responsible for signalling pain and raising body temperature. By reducing these signals, paracetamol helps to relieve pain and bring down a high temperature (fever).

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 16 and over: take 1–2 caplets every 4–6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 8 caplets (4g) in any 24-hour period. Children aged 12–15 years: take 1 caplet every 4–6 hours, up to a maximum of 4 caplets in 24 hours. Swallow the caplets whole with a glass of water. Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours, and do not take more than the recommended dose. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 500mg per caplet

    Possible Side Effects

Paracetamol is generally well tolerated when taken at the recommended dose. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
    • Skin rash or allergic reaction
    • Low blood pressure (if given as an injection — not relevant to oral use)
    • Blood disorders (very rare)
    • Liver or kidney problems (usually associated with overdose or prolonged misuse)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in the caplets
    • People with severe liver disease or severe kidney impairment
    • Children under 12 years of age
    • People who regularly consume large amounts of alcohol
    • People already taking other paracetamol-containing products (to avoid exceeding the maximum dose)

    Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with certain medicines, including warfarin and other anticoagulants (blood thinners), where regular use may increase the risk of bleeding. Some medicines can affect how paracetamol is broken down by the body, such as medicines used to treat epilepsy (e.g. carbamazepine, phenytoin) and tuberculosis (e.g. rifampicin). Taking paracetamol alongside other products that also contain paracetamol (such as cold and flu remedies) increases the risk of accidental overdose. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Paracetamol has been widely used during pregnancy and breastfeeding and is generally considered the preferred pain relief option when needed. However, it should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol excessively while taking paracetamol, as combining the two can increase the risk of liver damage. If you regularly drink alcohol, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist before taking this medicine to confirm it is suitable for you.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Paracetamol does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you feel unwell due to the condition you are treating, use your own judgement as to whether it is safe to drive.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
