Description
Corsodyl Mint Mouthwash – 300ml
Corsodyl Mint Mouthwash is an antibacterial mouth rinse containing chlorhexidine digluconate, used to treat and prevent gum disease (gingivitis), reduce dental plaque, help heal mouth ulcers, and support recovery after dental surgery.
⸻
How It Works
The active ingredient, chlorhexidine digluconate, is an antiseptic that kills a wide range of bacteria in the mouth. By reducing the number of harmful bacteria, it helps control plaque build-up, reduces gum inflammation, and creates an environment that supports healing of sore or damaged gum tissue and mouth ulcers.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: rinse with 10 ml (two 5 ml teaspoons) for one minute, twice daily — morning and evening — after brushing your teeth. Do not swallow the mouthwash. For short-term use (up to one month) unless directed otherwise by a dentist or doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Chlorhexidine digluconate 0.2% w/v
⸻
Possible Side Effects
• Temporary brown staining of teeth, tongue, and dental restorations
• Altered or reduced taste sensation (usually reversible)
• Dry mouth or temporary numbness/tingling of the tongue
• Mouth irritation or soreness
• Increased tartar (calculus) build-up with prolonged use
• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling of the mouth or throat) — rare
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• Children under 12 years of age
• Anyone with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or any other ingredient in this product
• Anyone who has previously experienced a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to chlorhexidine
⸻
Interactions
Chlorhexidine mouthwash may be less effective if used immediately after using toothpaste, as some toothpaste ingredients can reduce its antibacterial action — rinse your mouth with water after brushing and wait a few minutes before using the mouthwash. There are no significant known interactions with oral medications when used as a mouthwash and not swallowed, but care should be taken with other oral antiseptic products used at the same time. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Corsodyl Mint Mouthwash is not expected to be absorbed into the body in significant amounts when used correctly as a mouth rinse and not swallowed. However, as a precaution, Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Corsodyl Mint Mouthwash does not contain alcohol and there are no known interactions with alcoholic drinks. As with all mouthwashes, the product should not be swallowed.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Corsodyl Mint Mouthwash is applied topically in the mouth and is not intended to be swallowed. It is not known to cause drowsiness or to impair your ability to drive or operate machinery.
