Description
Clotrimazole 500mg Pessary With Applicator (Brand May Vary)
Clotrimazole 500mg Pessary is a single-dose treatment for vaginal thrush (candidal vulvovaginitis). It contains clotrimazole, an antifungal medicine that kills the Candida yeast responsible for the infection. The pessary is inserted into the vagina using the applicator provided and works overnight.
⸻
How It Works
Clotrimazole is an antifungal that works by damaging the cell membrane of the Candida fungus. It inhibits the production of ergosterol, a substance the fungus needs to maintain its cell membrane. Without ergosterol, the fungal cells become weakened and die, clearing the infection.
⸻
Directions for Use
Insert one 500mg pessary into the vagina at bedtime using the applicator provided. The pessary should be inserted as high as comfortably possible. Use a single dose — one pessary is usually sufficient. If symptoms persist after 7 days or recur within 2 months, consult your doctor. Do not use tampons, intravaginal douches or spermicides during treatment. If you are unsure how to use this product, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
