Description
Clarityn Allergy 10mg – 14 Tablets
Clarityn Allergy 10mg Tablets contain loratadine, a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of hayfever and other allergies, such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and skin reactions like hives.
⸻
How It Works
Loratadine works by blocking histamine receptors in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical released during an allergic reaction that causes symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and a runny nose. By blocking histamine, Clarityn helps to reduce and relieve these uncomfortable symptoms. Unlike older antihistamines, loratadine is classed as non-drowsy at the recommended dose.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 6 years and over: take one 10mg tablet once a day. The tablet can be taken with or without food. Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours. For children under 6 years of age, consult a doctor before use. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Loratadine 10mg per tablet
⸻
Possible Side Effects
• Headache
• Feeling tired or drowsy (uncommon at recommended doses)
• Dry mouth
• Nausea
• Nervousness or excitability (more common in children)
• Skin rash or allergic reaction (rare)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• Children under 6 years of age
• Anyone allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients in this product
• People with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption (refer to the patient information leaflet for full details)
• Anyone with severe liver problems should seek medical advice before use
⸻
Interactions
Loratadine may interact with certain medicines including cimetidine (used for indigestion), ketoconazole (an antifungal), and erythromycin (an antibiotic), which may increase the level of loratadine in your blood. Some medicines used to treat anxiety, epilepsy, or depression may also interact with loratadine. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Loratadine is not recommended during pregnancy as its safety has not been fully established. Loratadine passes into breast milk in small amounts, so use during breastfeeding is not generally recommended. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Although loratadine is a non-drowsy antihistamine, drinking alcohol while taking this medicine may increase the risk of drowsiness. It is advisable to limit alcohol consumption whilst taking Clarityn Allergy Tablets.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Clarityn is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine and is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery at the recommended dose. However, a small number of people may still experience drowsiness. If you feel affected, do not drive or operate machinery.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
