Description
Benadryl Cetirizine Allergy Liquid Release – 7 Capsules
Benadryl Cetirizine Allergy Liquid Release capsules contain cetirizine hydrochloride, a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of hayfever, allergic rhinitis, and skin allergies such as urticaria (hives). Each pack contains 7 capsules, providing a full week’s relief from common allergy symptoms including sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, and skin rashes.
⸻
How It Works
Cetirizine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical released during an allergic reaction that causes symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and swelling. By blocking histamine from binding to these receptors, cetirizine helps to reduce and relieve these allergic symptoms quickly and effectively. The liquid-filled capsule format allows for fast absorption into the body.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over should take one capsule (10 mg) once daily, swallowed whole with water. Do not chew or open the capsule. This medicine can be taken with or without food. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age without medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Interactions
Cetirizine may interact with medicines that cause drowsiness, including sleeping tablets, sedatives, and anti-anxiety medicines, potentially increasing sedation. Theophylline (used for asthma) has been reported to slightly reduce the clearance of cetirizine from the body. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The safety of cetirizine during pregnancy has not been fully established, and it is therefore not recommended for use during pregnancy without medical guidance. Cetirizine may pass into breast milk and its use is generally not recommended whilst breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Although cetirizine is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine, combining it with alcohol may increase the risk of drowsiness and impaired alertness. It is advisable to avoid or limit alcohol consumption whilst taking this medicine.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Benadryl Cetirizine is considered a non-drowsy antihistamine; however, some people may still experience drowsiness or dizziness, particularly when first taking it. You should assess how this medicine affects you before driving or operating heavy machinery. If you feel drowsy or less alert, do not drive or use machinery.
