Beconase Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray contains beclomethasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid that helps relieve the symptoms of hayfever and other nasal allergies. It is used to reduce sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, and nasal itching caused by allergic rhinitis.

How It Works

Beclomethasone dipropionate works by reducing inflammation in the lining of the nose. When you have an allergic reaction, the nasal passages can become swollen and irritated — beclomethasone dampens down this inflammatory response, helping to ease congestion and other allergy symptoms. It is a localised treatment, meaning it acts directly in the nose rather than throughout the whole body.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 18 and over: spray two sprays into each nostril twice daily (morning and evening), or two sprays into each nostril up to four times daily if needed. Once symptoms are under control, reduce to two sprays into each nostril once daily. This product is not recommended for children under 18 without medical supervision. Possible Side Effects

• Dryness or irritation inside the nose or throat
• Unpleasant taste or smell

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• Children under 18 years of age (unless directed by a doctor)
• People who are allergic to beclomethasone dipropionate or any other ingredient in the product
• People with an untreated nasal infection (bacterial, fungal, or viral)
• People who have recently had nasal surgery or injury (until the area has healed)
• People currently taking other corticosteroid treatments — speak to your doctor first

Interactions

Beconase Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray is generally not known to interact significantly with most common medicines. However, other corticosteroid medicines (including tablets, creams, or inhalers) used at the same time may increase the risk of steroid-related side effects. Certain antifungal medicines such as ketoconazole may increase levels of beclomethasone in the body. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

The safety of beclomethasone nasal spray during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. It should only be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding if considered necessary by a healthcare professional, and at the lowest effective dose. Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Beconase Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray and alcohol. This medicine is applied locally in the nose and is not expected to be affected by alcohol consumption. However, if you have any concerns, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Beconase Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray is a non-drowsy nasal spray and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Unlike some antihistamine tablets, it does not cause sedation.

Storage

Store below 25°C, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep the cap on the bottle when not in use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
