    Description

    Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant – 28 Tablets

Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets are used as a low-dose antiplatelet medicine to help prevent blood clots, reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes in people who have been advised by their doctor to take it regularly.

    How It Works

Aspirin belongs to a group of medicines called antiplatelet agents. At this low 75mg dose, it works by reducing the stickiness of platelets — the tiny cells in your blood that clump together to form clots. By preventing platelets from clumping too easily, aspirin helps keep blood flowing smoothly through narrowed blood vessels, lowering the risk of a heart attack or stroke.

    Directions for Use

This low-dose aspirin is intended for adults who have been specifically advised by their doctor to take it for cardiovascular protection. The usual dose is one 75mg tablet once daily, taken with water. The gastro-resistant coating means the tablet should be swallowed whole — do not crush or chew it. This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 16 years. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) 75mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Stomach discomfort, indigestion, or nausea
    • Stomach or intestinal bleeding (which may cause dark or blood-streaked stools)
    • Increased tendency to bruise or bleed
    • Allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, or hives
    • Rarely, severe allergic reactions including breathing difficulties or swelling of the face and throat
    • Headache or dizziness (uncommon)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to aspirin, other NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen), or any of the tablet’s other ingredients
    • People with active stomach ulcers or a history of gastric bleeding
    • People with haemophilia or other bleeding disorders
    • Children and young people under 16 years of age
    • People with severe kidney, liver, or heart failure
    • Those taking anticoagulants (blood-thinning medicines) unless specifically advised by a doctor
    • Pregnant women in their third trimester (weeks 28 onwards)

    Interactions

Aspirin may interact with a number of medicines, including anticoagulants (such as warfarin), other antiplatelet drugs (such as clopidogrel), other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen or naproxen), methotrexate, some diabetes medicines, diuretics, and certain antidepressants (SSRIs). Taking other medicines that affect bleeding risk alongside aspirin increases the chance of bleeding complications. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Aspirin at any dose is generally not recommended during pregnancy without medical supervision. During the third trimester (from 28 weeks), aspirin must not be taken as it may harm the unborn baby or cause complications during labour. Low-dose aspirin may pass into breast milk in small amounts, and regular use during breastfeeding is not generally recommended. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Drinking alcohol while taking aspirin can significantly increase the risk of stomach irritation and bleeding. It is advisable to limit or avoid alcohol consumption whilst taking this medicine, and to speak to your PillSorted pharmacist if you have any concerns.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Aspirin 75mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience any dizziness or feel unwell after taking this medicine, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel better.
