• Identical to the single tube — same manufacturer, same product
⸻
How It Works
The active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, works by releasing oxygen into the skin, which kills the bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes) responsible for causing acne and spots. It also helps to reduce excess oil on the skin’s surface and gently unblocks pores, helping to keep skin clearer over time. Glycerine in the formula acts as a natural moisturiser to help soothe the skin during treatment.
⸻
Directions for Use
Acnecide 5% Gel is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over. Wash and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of gel once daily, preferably in the evening. After a few weeks, if tolerated well, it may be applied twice daily. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, lips, and nostrils. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Interactions
Acnecide 5% Gel should not be used at the same time as other topical acne treatments, such as tretinoin or other retinoids, as this may cause excessive skin irritation. Avoid using alongside abrasive or alcohol-based skin preparations, medicated soaps, or other products that may cause skin dryness. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
There is limited data on the use of benzoyl peroxide during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As a precaution, it is generally recommended to avoid using Acnecide 5% Gel during pregnancy unless advised by a doctor. If breastfeeding, avoid applying the gel to the chest area to prevent any contact with the baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Acnecide 5% Gel and alcohol when used as a topical treatment. However, alcohol-based skin products applied to the same area may increase skin irritation and dryness, so these should be avoided.
