What is Foundayo®?
Foundayo® is a once-daily tablet containing orforglipron, licensed for weight management in adults alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Orforglipron was authorised by the MHRA on 10 August 2026, making the UK the first country in Europe to approve it. PillSorted dispenses Foundayo following an online weight loss consultation.
It is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to under 30 with at least one weight-related health condition. It has not been studied in under-18s.
How Foundayo works
Orforglipron is a non-peptide, small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist. It binds to and activates the GLP-1 receptor — the same receptor targeted by injectable GLP-1 treatments. GLP-1 receptors are found in the regions of the brain that regulate appetite.
Orforglipron reduces food intake, an effect likely to be driven by reduced appetite, and reduces body weight, with more fat mass lost than lean mass. It also delays how quickly the stomach empties; that effect is largest after the first dose and lessens over time.
Because it is a small molecule rather than a peptide, it is taken as a tablet — at any time of day, with or without food, and with no restriction on what you drink around it.
How do I take Foundayo?
- Take one tablet once a day, at any time of day
- With or without food, and with no water restriction
- Swallow the tablet whole — do not break, crush or chew it
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, the same day — never two doses in one day
- If you miss a week or more of doses, please speak to your prescriber before starting again. Your dose may need to be lowered and built back up
Taking it at roughly the same time each day makes it easier to remember. Taking more than one tablet a day does not give the effect of a higher dose.
How dosing works
Everyone starts on the lowest dose. Your prescriber increases it in steps, and each step needs at least 30 days on the dose before it. They may keep you on a dose for longer to give your body more time to adjust.

Switching from an injection or the Wegovy® pill
Switching between GLP-1 treatments is possible with prescriber guidance. The doses do not convert across one for one, so your prescriber decides the right starting dose based on the treatment you are on now and how well you have tolerated it. Foundayo should not be taken at the same time as another GLP-1 treatment. Your prescriber will tell you when to stop your current treatment and when to take your first Foundayo tablet — do not start Foundayo until they have confirmed this.

This is a prescription-only medicine: you complete an online consultation and a prescriber confirms the treatment is right for you before it can be supplied. Payment is taken when you order; if the prescriber finds the treatment is not suitable for you, you receive a full refund.

Foundayo vs the injections: Foundayo is a tablet taken once a day. Injectable GLP-1 treatments such as Wegovy® and Mounjaro® are given once a week using a pen, and they contain different active ingredients. Taking it as a tablet. GLP-1 treatment is also available as a weekly injection given with a pen. Foundayo is taken as a tablet instead. Like all GLP-1 treatments it needs clinical assessment, prescribing and follow-up — our consultation covers every option, so you can tell us which treatment you are interested in and a prescriber decides whether it is suitable for you.
Who Foundayo is not for
Foundayo is not suitable for everyone, and your prescriber goes through your medical history during the consultation. You should not take it if you are allergic to orforglipron or to any of the other ingredients, if you, or a member of your family, have ever had medullary thyroid cancer, or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), a rare inherited hormone condition.
It is also not recommended, or needs extra care, if you:
- are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Foundayo should not be used in pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, speak to your prescriber about when to stop and what to use instead
- have had pancreatitis, or have a severe digestive condition such as gastroparesis
- are being treated for diabetic eye disease (retinopathy), or are about to be
- have severe liver problems
- are under 18 — it has not been studied in this age group
Tell your prescriber if you are due to have a general anaesthetic or deep sedation, because GLP-1 treatments slow how quickly the stomach empties.

How much weight someone loses varies from person to person, and the full effect is generally seen once you reach your maintenance dose — which takes at least five dose steps of 30 days each. Your prescriber will talk you through what to expect.

Take it as soon as you remember, the same day — never two doses in one day, and do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you miss a week or more of doses, please speak to your prescriber before starting again. Your dose may need to be lowered and built back up. This is different from the Wegovy pill, where a missed dose is skipped and you take the next one the following day.
The most common side effects are digestive, and they are usually mild or moderate: feeling sick, constipation, diarrhoea, being sick, indigestion and stomach pain. They tend to be more noticeable while your dose is being increased, and settle over time. Stop taking Foundayo and get medical help straight away if you have severe, persistent stomach pain, which can be a sign of pancreatitis. Always read the patient information leaflet supplied with your medicine.
