Wegovy pill is a once-daily GLP-1 tablet (oral semaglutide) that has launched in the United States.

We are preparing to offer it in the UK if and when it becomes authorised here.

Current UK availability

As of January 2026, Wegovy pill is not yet authorised for use in the UK. The UK regulator (MHRA) is reviewing the application.

Is oral Semaglutide available in the UK ahead of the release of Wegovy tablets?

In certain circumstances, and following a full clinical assessment, our clinical team may consider prescribing oral semaglutide (Rybelsus) off licence for patients seeking weight loss.

Rybelsus is licensed in the UK for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Prescribing it outside its licensed indication is a clinical decision that may be made where a prescriber considers it appropriate for an individual patient, based on their medical history, clinical need, and available alternatives.

• Your prescriber may increase the dose gradually over time

Dosing schedule

• Your health care professional will start you on the 1.5 mg once-daily dose and gradually increase the dose every 30 days until you reach the 25 mg maximum dose.
