Description
Strefen Honey & Lemon – 16 Lozenges
Strefen Honey & Lemon lozenges are used to relieve the pain and discomfort of sore throats in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. Each lozenge contains flurbiprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and dissolves slowly in the mouth to target the throat directly.
⸻
How It Works
Flurbiprofen works by blocking the production of prostaglandins — natural chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, swelling, and pain. As the lozenge dissolves slowly in your mouth, it releases the active ingredient directly around the throat area, helping to reduce inflammation and ease soreness at the source.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over: allow one lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth every 3 to 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 5 lozenges in any 24-hour period. Do not use for more than 3 days without seeking medical advice. Strefen lozenges are not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• Children under 12 years of age
• People who are allergic to flurbiprofen, aspirin, ibuprofen, or any other NSAID
• People who have previously experienced asthma, hives, or allergic reactions triggered by aspirin or other NSAIDs
• People with active or previous stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding
• Women in the last trimester of pregnancy (28 weeks onwards)
• People with severe heart, kidney, or liver problems
⸻
Interactions
Strefen lozenges may interact with other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen or aspirin), anticoagulants (such as warfarin), antiplatelet medicines, corticosteroids, certain antidepressants (SSRIs), antihypertensives, and diuretics. Taking more than one NSAID at the same time increases the risk of side effects and should be avoided. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Strefen lozenges should not be used during the last trimester of pregnancy (from 28 weeks onwards) as they may harm the unborn baby. Use during the first and second trimesters should also be avoided unless considered essential by a doctor, as NSAIDs may affect fertility and early foetal development. Flurbiprofen may pass into breast milk, so breastfeeding while using this medicine is not recommended. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no specific interaction between Strefen lozenges and alcohol at the doses used; however, both alcohol and NSAIDs can irritate the stomach lining. It is advisable to avoid excessive alcohol consumption while using this medicine, particularly if you have a sensitive stomach.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Strefen lozenges are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience dizziness or any other side effect that affects your alertness, avoid driving or using machinery until you feel well again.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
