Piriteze Allergy Tablets – 30 Tablets

Piriteze Allergy Tablets contain cetirizine hydrochloride, a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of hay fever, pet allergies, dust mite allergies, and other allergic conditions. They are suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over, providing 24-hour relief with just one tablet a day.

    How It Works

Cetirizine works by blocking histamine receptors in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical released during an allergic reaction that causes symptoms such as sneezing, itching, a runny nose, and watery eyes. By blocking histamine, cetirizine helps to reduce and relieve these uncomfortable symptoms.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over should take one 10 mg tablet once a day, with or without food. Children aged 6 to 11 years should take half a tablet (5 mg) twice a day, or one tablet (10 mg) once a day as directed. The tablet can be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Cetirizine hydrochloride 10 mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Headache
    • Dry mouth
    • Drowsiness or tiredness
    • Dizziness
    • Stomach discomfort or nausea
    • Sore throat
    • Skin rash or itching (uncommon)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to cetirizine hydrochloride, hydroxyzine, or any other ingredient in the tablet
    • People with severe kidney problems (unless advised by a doctor)
    • Children under 6 years of age
    • People with a rare inherited condition called galactose intolerance, as this tablet contains lactose

    Interactions

Cetirizine may interact with medicines that cause drowsiness, such as sleeping tablets, anxiety medicines, or strong pain medicines, potentially increasing sedation. The sedative effect may also be increased if taken alongside certain antihistamines or muscle relaxants. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Piriteze Allergy Tablets are not recommended during pregnancy, as the safety of cetirizine in pregnant women has not been fully established. Cetirizine passes into breast milk and should be avoided by breastfeeding mothers unless directed by a healthcare professional. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Although Piriteze is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine, drinking alcohol whilst taking cetirizine may increase the risk of drowsiness and dizziness. It is advisable to avoid or limit alcohol consumption whilst taking this medicine.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Piriteze is considered a non-drowsy antihistamine; however, some people may still experience drowsiness, dizziness, or difficulty concentrating. If you are affected in this way, you should not drive or operate machinery. Individual responses can vary, so take care until you know how this medicine affects you.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
