Paracetamol Oral Suspension 120mg/5ml is a liquid medicine used to relieve mild to moderate pain — such as toothache, sore throat, headaches, and general aches — and to reduce fever in children aged 3 months and older.

How It Works

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain and raising body temperature. By reducing these chemicals, it helps to ease discomfort and bring a high temperature back down to normal.

Directions for Use

The dose depends on your child’s age and weight. Always use the measuring spoon or syringe provided to give the correct amount. As a general guide:

• 3–6 months: 2.5ml (up to 4 times in 24 hours)
• 6–24 months: 5ml (up to 4 times in 24 hours)
• 2–4 years: 7.5ml (up to 4 times in 24 hours)
• 4–6 years: 10ml (up to 4 times in 24 hours)

Leave at least 4 hours between doses and do not give more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period. Do not use for more than 3 days without seeking medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Possible Side Effects

Paracetamol is generally well tolerated at recommended doses. Side effects are uncommon but may include:

• Skin rash or itching

• Liver or kidney problems (rare, usually associated with overdose)

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not give this medicine to a child who:

• Is allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in the suspension
• Is under 3 months of age
• Has severe liver or kidney disease
• Is already taking other medicines containing paracetamol (to avoid exceeding the recommended dose)

Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with certain medicines, including blood-thinning medicines (such as warfarin), some epilepsy medicines (such as carbamazepine and phenytoin), and medicines that affect how the liver processes drugs. Avoid giving other products containing paracetamol at the same time, as this can lead to overdose. This product is intended for use in children aged 3 months and older and is not indicated for use by adults. Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not refrigerate or freeze the suspension. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
