    Description

    Panadol Extra Advance 500mg/65mg – 32 Tablets

Panadol Extra Advance is an over-the-counter pain relief medicine containing paracetamol and caffeine. It is used to relieve a range of painful conditions including headaches, migraines, toothaches, muscle pain, and period pain.

    How It Works

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of chemicals in the body that cause pain and fever. The added caffeine (65mg per tablet) helps to enhance the pain-relieving effect of paracetamol, meaning you may get stronger and faster relief compared to standard paracetamol alone.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 and over: take 2 tablets up to 4 times a day as needed. Leave at least 4 hours between doses and do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24-hour period. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not give this medicine to children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 500mg per tablet
    • Caffeine 65mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

Panadol Extra Advance is generally well tolerated at the recommended dose. Possible side effects may include:
    • Skin rash or allergic reactions
    • Nausea or stomach discomfort
    • Difficulty sleeping (due to the caffeine content)
    • Increased heart rate or palpitations
    • Dizziness or restlessness
    • Liver damage if the recommended dose is exceeded
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not take Panadol Extra Advance if you:
    • Are allergic to paracetamol, caffeine, or any other ingredient in the tablets
    • Are already taking other medicines containing paracetamol
    • Have severe liver or kidney problems
    • Have been advised to avoid caffeine by your doctor
    • Are under 16 years of age
    • Are taking medicines known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)

    Interactions

Panadol Extra Advance may interact with other medicines. Avoid taking this product alongside other paracetamol-containing medicines, as this can lead to overdose. Caffeine may interact with other stimulants, certain antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin), and medicines used to treat heart conditions or anxiety. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Paracetamol is generally considered safe during pregnancy at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary; however, the caffeine content in Panadol Extra Advance means it may not be the most suitable choice during pregnancy. Caffeine passes into breast milk and should be used with caution if breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid or limit alcohol whilst taking Panadol Extra Advance. Drinking alcohol regularly or in excess alongside paracetamol can increase the risk of liver damage. If you drink more than three alcoholic drinks per day, speak to your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Panadol Extra Advance is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience dizziness or any other unexpected effects, avoid driving or using machinery until you feel well enough to do so safely.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
