What is Mounjaro®?
Mounjaro® is a prescription injection designed to support weight loss in adults with obesity or those who are
overweight with weight-related health concerns. It contains tirzepatide, a medication that works by targeting
hormones involved in appetite and blood sugar control.
How does Mounjaro® work?
Mounjaro® mimics two naturally occurring hormones (GLP-1 and GIP) to help regulate blood sugar and appetite.
It helps you feel full sooner and for longer, reducing how much you eat—leading to steady weight loss when
used with diet and exercise.
How to use Mounjaro® pens
Mounjaro® is a once-weekly injection delivered through a simple, pre-filled pen. Each pen contains a single
dose. You inject it under the skin in your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm—rotating the site each week. No mixing
or measuring needed.
Who is Mounjaro® suitable for?
Mounjaro® is suitable for adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27+ with weight-related conditions such as high
cholesterol or type 2 diabetes. It’s not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or for those with
certain medical histories—your eligibility will be assessed during consultation.
Mounjaro® dosage guide
Your Mounjaro® treatment begins at a low dose, gradually increasing every 4 weeks. This gradual approach
helps your body adjust and reduces the chance of side effects. The maximum dose is usually reached by week 20.
How effective is Mounjaro®?
In clinical studies, patients lost up to 20% of their body weight on Mounjaro® when combined with a healthy
lifestyle. It has also shown strong results in improving blood sugar control for those with type 2 diabetes.
How to dispose of used needles
Used Mounjaro® pens should be placed in a sharps bin. Never throw them in your household bin. If you need a
sharps container or guidance on safe disposal, we can help you arrange one with your first order.
How to store Mounjaro®
Keep Mounjaro® pens in the fridge (between 2°C and 8°C) until you’re ready to use them. Once in use, a pen can
be stored at room temperature (up to 30°C) for up to 21 days. Always protect pens from light and heat.
Potential side effects
The most common side effects with Mounjaro® include nausea, diarrhoea, and reduced appetite, especially
during the early stages. These usually ease with time. Your prescriber will discuss any risks with you before
treatment begins.
