Foundayo is a once-daily GLP-1 tablet (orforglipron) for weight management, taken alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

How it is taken
- Take one tablet once a day, at any time of day
- With or without food, and with no water restriction
- Swallow the tablet whole — do not break, crush or chew it
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, the same day — never two doses in one day
- If you have missed a week or more of doses, contact us before restarting — your prescriber will usually need to restart you at a lower dose and build back up
Dosing schedule
Everyone starts on the lowest dose. Your prescriber increases it in steps, and each step needs at least 30 days on the dose before it.

The maximum dose is 17.2 mg once daily. Taking more than one tablet a day does not give the effect of a higher dose.

Prefer a tablet to an injection?
Many people want the benefits of GLP-1 treatment but would rather take a tablet than use an injection. Foundayo is a once-daily alternative to weekly injectable treatments such as Wegovy and Mounjaro pens. Like all GLP-1 treatments, it requires clinical assessment, prescribing and follow-up — our consultation covers every option, so a prescriber can advise which is right for you.
Switching from an injection or from the Wegovy® pill
Switching between GLP-1 treatments is possible with prescriber guidance. The doses do not convert across one for one, so your prescriber decides the right starting dose based on the treatment you are on now and how well you have tolerated it. Foundayo should not be taken at the same time as another GLP-1 treatment. Your prescriber will tell you when to stop your current treatment and when to take your first Foundayo tablet — do not start Foundayo until they have confirmed this. Side effects
Like all medicines, Foundayo can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. The most common are digestive, and they are usually mild or moderate. They tend to be more noticeable while your dose is being increased, and settle over time.

If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea for diabetes, low blood sugar is more likely, and your prescriber may adjust those doses.
Stop taking Foundayo and get medical help straight away if you have severe, persistent stomach pain, which can be a sign of pancreatitis. A full list of side effects is in the patient information leaflet supplied with your medicine.
Who Foundayo is not for
Foundayo is not suitable for everyone, and your prescriber will go through your medical history during the consultation. You should not take it if you are allergic to orforglipron or to any of the other ingredients, if you, or a member of your family, have ever had medullary thyroid cancer, or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), a rare inherited hormone condition.
It is also not recommended, or needs extra care, if you:
- are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Foundayo should not be used in pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, speak to your prescriber about when to stop and what to use instead
- have had pancreatitis, or have a severe digestive condition such as gastroparesis
- are being treated for diabetic eye disease (retinopathy), or are about to be
- have severe liver problems
- are under 18 — it has not been studied in this age group
Tell your prescriber if you are due to have a general anaesthetic or deep sedation, because GLP-1 treatments slow how quickly the stomach empties.
If you take other medicines

FAQs
Is Foundayo available in the UK?
Yes. Orforglipron was authorised by the MHRA on 10 August 2026, making the UK the first country in Europe to approve it. It is available privately through our online weight loss consultation, where a prescriber reviews your answers and decides whether it is suitable. It is not available on the NHS.
What is the difference between Foundayo and the Wegovy® pill?
Both are once-daily GLP-1 tablets. The Wegovy pill contains semaglutide and must be taken on an empty stomach with a 30-minute wait before eating, drinking or taking other medicines. Foundayo contains orforglipron and can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. A prescriber will advise which is appropriate for you.
What is the difference between Foundayo and the injections?
Foundayo is a tablet taken once a day. Injectable GLP-1 treatments such as Wegovy and Mounjaro are given once a week using a pen. They contain different active ingredients, and a prescriber will advise which is appropriate for you.
What strengths does Foundayo come in?
Six: 0.8 mg, 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg, 14.5 mg and 17.2 mg. Treatment starts at 0.8 mg and the dose is increased gradually, with at least 30 days at each step.
Do I need to take it at a particular time of day?
No. Foundayo is taken once a day at any time that suits you, with or without food, and there is no restriction on what you drink around it. Taking it at roughly the same time each day makes it easier to remember.
What if I miss a dose?
Take it as soon as you remember, the same day — never two doses in one day, and do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you have missed a week or more of doses, contact us before restarting — your prescriber will usually need to restart you at a lower dose and build back up.
Can I switch from an injection or from the Wegovy® pill?
Switching between GLP-1 treatments is possible with prescriber guidance. The doses do not map across one-to-one, so your prescriber will confirm the right starting dose for you. Your prescriber will also tell you when to start the tablets in relation to your last injection — do not start them before you have been told to. Start a consultation and our clinical team will guide you through it.

It can. Foundayo may make oral hormonal contraceptives less effective. If you take the pill, use a non-oral method instead, or add a barrier method, for 30 days after starting Foundayo and for 30 days after each dose increase. Raise it in your consultation so your prescriber can advise.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. Foundayo is a prescription-only medicine. You will need to complete a consultation and be prescribed it by a qualified prescriber before it can be supplied.
