Description
Epimax Original Cream – 100g
Epimax Original Cream is an emollient (moisturising) cream used to soothe, soften, and protect dry, rough, or sensitive skin. It is commonly used to help manage conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, and other dry skin conditions.
⸻
How It Works
Epimax Original Cream works by forming a protective barrier on the surface of the skin, helping to lock in moisture and prevent water loss. The emollient ingredients — white soft paraffin and liquid paraffin — soften and smooth the skin, reducing dryness, flaking, and irritation. Regular use helps to keep the skin hydrated and comfortable.
⸻
Directions for Use
Apply Epimax Original Cream to the affected areas of skin as often as needed, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Smooth the cream gently onto the skin in the direction of hair growth. It can be used on adults and children of all ages. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• White soft paraffin 14.5% w/w
• Liquid paraffin 10% w/w
⸻
Possible Side Effects
Epimax Original Cream is generally well tolerated. Possible side effects may include:
• Skin irritation or redness at the site of application
• A feeling of greasiness or heaviness on the skin
• Rarely, an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or swelling
• Folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles) if applied too thickly or against hair growth
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• People who are known to be allergic to white soft paraffin, liquid paraffin, or any other ingredient in this cream
• Do not use on infected skin unless directed by a doctor
• Do not use near open flames or while smoking, as paraffin-based products can be flammable when absorbed into fabric
• Not recommended for use inside the nose or ears unless advised by a healthcare professional
⸻
Interactions
Epimax Original Cream is applied to the skin and is not known to interact significantly with other medicines. However, if you are using other topical products (such as steroid creams), allow adequate time between applications to ensure each product is absorbed properly. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Epimax Original Cream is considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used as directed, as it is applied topically and systemic absorption is minimal. If using on the breast area while breastfeeding, ensure the cream is cleaned off before feeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Epimax Original Cream and alcohol. This product is applied to the skin only and is not taken by mouth, so alcohol consumption does not affect how it works.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Epimax Original Cream does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It is applied externally to the skin and has no effect on alertness or co-ordination.
