Description
EllaOne 30mg – 1 Tablet
EllaOne is an emergency contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. It should be taken as soon as possible, and no later than 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected intercourse.
⸻
How It Works
EllaOne contains ulipristal acetate, which works by delaying or stopping the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). By delaying ovulation, it reduces the chance of an egg being fertilised by sperm, thereby helping to prevent pregnancy. It is most effective the sooner it is taken after unprotected sex.
⸻
Directions for Use
EllaOne is suitable for women and girls of reproductive age (from the onset of menstruation). Take one 30mg tablet by mouth as soon as possible, and within 120 hours (5 days) of unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. The tablet can be taken with or without food. If you vomit within 3 hours of taking the tablet, contact a healthcare professional as you may need to take another dose. EllaOne is for emergency use only and should not be used as a regular method of contraception. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
