Description
Difflam 3mg Orange & Honey – 20 Lozenges
Difflam 3mg Orange & Honey Lozenges are used to relieve the pain and discomfort of a sore throat. Each lozenge contains benzydamine hydrochloride, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and is available in a pleasant orange and honey flavour.
⸻
How It Works
Benzydamine hydrochloride works by reducing inflammation and numbing the tissues in your throat, helping to relieve pain and soreness. It acts locally in the mouth and throat, so it gets to work directly where it is needed without being significantly absorbed into the rest of the body.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 6 years and over: dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 1.5 to 3 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 8 lozenges in 24 hours. Children aged 6 to 12 years should use no more than 4 lozenges in 24 hours. The lozenges should be sucked slowly and not chewed or swallowed whole. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

• Those who have previously had an allergic reaction (such as asthma, hives, or swelling) after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
⸻
Interactions
No significant interactions with other medicines have been identified for benzydamine hydrochloride used as a lozenge, as it acts locally in the mouth and throat with minimal systemic absorption. However, if you are taking other medicines — particularly other NSAIDs or aspirin — it is always best to check. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The use of Difflam lozenges is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly during the third trimester, as NSAIDs may affect the unborn baby. There is insufficient data on the use of benzydamine during breastfeeding, so caution is advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known significant interaction between Difflam lozenges and alcohol. However, alcohol can irritate an already sore or inflamed throat and may worsen your symptoms, so it is best to avoid alcohol while you are experiencing throat discomfort.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Difflam lozenges are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience any unusual effects such as dizziness after using these lozenges, do not drive or operate machinery and speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
