    Description

    Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream – 15g

Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream is a combination medicine used to treat skin conditions where both a fungal infection and inflammation are present, such as infected eczema, dermatitis, athlete’s foot, and jock itch. It contains two active ingredients that work together to relieve redness, itching, and irritation whilst tackling the underlying fungal infection.

    How It Works

Daktacort contains miconazole, an antifungal agent that kills fungi and yeast by damaging their cell membranes, stopping them from growing and spreading. It also contains hydrocortisone, a mild corticosteroid that calms the skin’s inflammatory response, reducing redness, swelling, and itching caused by the infection or irritation.

    Directions for Use

Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area two to three times daily. Gently rub in until absorbed. Continue treatment for at least one week after symptoms have cleared to prevent the infection returning. This cream is not recommended for use in children under 10 years of age without medical advice. Do not use on the face for more than one week, and avoid prolonged use on large areas of skin. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Miconazole nitrate 20 mg per gram (2% w/w)
    • Hydrocortisone 10 mg per gram (1% w/w)

    Possible Side Effects

    • Mild burning, stinging, or irritation at the application site
    • Skin redness or rash
    • Itching or peeling of the skin
    • Thinning of the skin with prolonged use
    • Allergic skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis)
    • Stretch marks or discolouration with extended use
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to miconazole, hydrocortisone, or any other ingredient in the cream
    • Those with skin infections caused by bacteria or viruses (e.g., chickenpox, herpes, impetigo)
    • People with acne, rosacea, or perioral dermatitis
    • Children under 10 years of age (unless directed by a doctor)
    • Do not apply to broken, infected, or ulcerated skin
    • Do not use in or around the eyes

    Interactions

Miconazole can be absorbed through the skin in small amounts and may interact with certain oral medicines, including warfarin (a blood-thinning medicine) — this could increase the risk of bleeding. It may also interact with some medicines used to treat diabetes or epilepsy. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The use of Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream is generally not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester or over large areas of skin for prolonged periods, as topical corticosteroids may carry risks to the unborn baby. If breastfeeding, avoid applying the cream to the breast or nipple area. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream and alcohol, as this is a topical (applied to the skin) medicine. No special precautions regarding alcohol are required when using this product.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream is applied to the skin and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. This medicine does not cause drowsiness or impair concentration.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
