    Description

    Cuprofen Maximum Strength 400mg – 48 Tablets

Cuprofen Maximum Strength 400mg tablets contain ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and lower fever. They are suitable for adults and children over 12 years for conditions such as headaches, toothaches, period pain, muscle aches, and joint pain.

    How It Works

Ibuprofen works by blocking enzymes called COX-1 and COX-2, which are responsible for producing prostaglandins — chemical messengers in the body that trigger pain, swelling, and fever. By reducing prostaglandin production, ibuprofen helps ease discomfort and inflammation at the source.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 12 years and over: take one tablet (400mg) up to three times a day, leaving at least 4–6 hours between doses. Do not take more than three tablets (1,200mg) in 24 hours. Always take with or after food or milk to reduce the risk of stomach upset. Do not use for more than 3 days for fever or 10 days for pain without seeking medical advice. This medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Interactions

Ibuprofen may interact with a number of medicines, including blood thinners (such as warfarin), aspirin, other NSAIDs, blood pressure medicines, diuretics (water tablets), lithium, methotrexate, SSRIs (antidepressants), and corticosteroids. Taking ibuprofen alongside these medicines may increase the risk of side effects or reduce their effectiveness. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Ibuprofen should not be taken during the third trimester of pregnancy (28 weeks or more) as it may harm the unborn baby. Use during the first and second trimesters should be avoided unless advised by a doctor, as it may affect fertility and increase the risk of miscarriage. Ibuprofen passes into breast milk in small amounts and is generally considered unsuitable during breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Drinking alcohol whilst taking ibuprofen can increase the risk of stomach irritation and bleeding. It is advisable to limit or avoid alcohol whilst taking this medicine, particularly if you are taking it regularly or have any existing stomach problems.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Cuprofen Maximum Strength 400mg tablets are not generally expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience dizziness or any other side effects that could impair your concentration or reactions, do not drive or operate heavy machinery.
