Description
Aqueous Cream – 100g
Aqueous Cream is a gentle, non-greasy moisturising cream used to soothe and relieve dry, itchy, or flaky skin. It is commonly used to help manage dry skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis.
⸻
How It Works
Aqueous Cream works as an emollient, which means it forms a protective layer on the surface of the skin to help lock in moisture and prevent water loss. The combination of white soft paraffin and liquid paraffin softens and hydrates the skin, helping to reduce dryness, itching, and irritation over time.
⸻
Directions for Use
Apply Aqueous Cream directly to the affected area of skin as often as needed, or as directed by your doctor. Gently smooth the cream onto the skin in the direction of hair growth — avoid rubbing it in vigorously. It can be used all over the body, including the face, and is suitable for adults and children of all ages. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• White Soft Paraffin — 150 mg/g
• Liquid Paraffin — 60 mg/g
• Cetostearyl Alcohol — 72 mg/g
• Sodium Lauryl Sulphate — 10 mg/g
⸻
Possible Side Effects
• Skin irritation, stinging, or burning sensation at the site of application
• Redness or itching — particularly with prolonged use or use on sensitive skin
• Skin reactions related to sodium lauryl sulphate, which may worsen eczema in some people
• Allergic skin reactions (less common)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• People with a known allergy to any of the ingredients, including cetostearyl alcohol or sodium lauryl sulphate
• Those whose skin condition worsens with use of this product
• Do not use on broken, infected, or severely inflamed skin without first seeking medical advice
• Not recommended as a leave-on emollient for eczema in children due to potential irritation from sodium lauryl sulphate — consult your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist for an alternative
⸻
Interactions
Aqueous Cream is applied to the skin and is not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream, so interactions with other medicines are uncommon. However, paraffin-based products can make dressings and fabrics more flammable — avoid contact with naked flames or cigarettes while using this product. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Aqueous Cream is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding, as it is applied topically and is not significantly absorbed into the body. However, avoid applying to the breast area if breastfeeding, to prevent the baby from ingesting any of the cream. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Aqueous Cream and alcohol. This product is applied to the skin and does not interact with alcohol consumption.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Aqueous Cream does not cause drowsiness or affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It is safe to drive after applying this product.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze. Keep the lid firmly closed when not in use to prevent the cream from drying out. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
