    Description

    Calcichew D3 Forte 500mg/400IU Chewable – 100 Tablets

Calcichew D3 Forte Chewable Tablets contain calcium and vitamin D3 (colecalciferol), and are used to treat or prevent calcium and vitamin D deficiency in adults. They are also commonly recommended alongside osteoporosis treatments to help maintain healthy bones.

    How It Works

Calcium is an essential mineral needed to build and maintain strong bones and teeth. Vitamin D3 helps your body absorb calcium from the food you eat and from supplements, making the two work together effectively. By providing both nutrients in one tablet, Calcichew D3 Forte helps to ensure your body has what it needs to support bone health, muscle function, and normal nerve signalling.

    Directions for Use

The usual dose for adults is one to two tablets per day, as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The tablets should be chewed or sucked and can be taken with or without food. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless advised by your doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Calcium carbonate equivalent to 500mg calcium (Ca²⁺) per tablet
    • Colecalciferol (Vitamin D3) 400IU (10 micrograms) per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Hypercalcaemia (high calcium levels in the blood) — particularly if taken in excess
    • Hypercalciuria (high calcium levels in the urine)
    • Constipation
    • Flatulence (wind)
    • Nausea
    • Stomach pain or discomfort
    • Mild skin reactions such as rash or itching (rare)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People with hypercalcaemia (high levels of calcium in the blood)
    • People with hypercalciuria (high levels of calcium in the urine)
    • People with nephrolithiasis (kidney stones containing calcium)
    • People with hypervitaminosis D (excess vitamin D in the body)
    • People with severe kidney disease or kidney failure
    • Anyone with a known allergy to calcium carbonate, colecalciferol, or any other ingredient in the tablet (including the lemon flavouring)
    • People with conditions causing excessive calcium absorption, such as sarcoidosis

    Interactions

Calcichew D3 Forte may interact with a number of other medicines. Calcium supplements can reduce the absorption of certain antibiotics (such as tetracyclines and quinolones), bisphosphonates, levothyroxine, and some heart medicines such as digoxin — so these should be taken at a different time of day. Thiazide diuretics (water tablets) may increase the risk of hypercalcaemia when taken alongside calcium supplements. Vitamin D may also interact with certain medications used to treat epilepsy (such as phenytoin and barbiturates), which can reduce its effectiveness. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Calcium and vitamin D are important nutrients during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding, and supplementation may be recommended by a healthcare professional. However, it is important not to exceed recommended doses during pregnancy, as excessive calcium or vitamin D intake may be harmful to the developing baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between Calcichew D3 Forte and alcohol. However, excessive alcohol consumption can contribute to calcium loss from the body and may negatively affect bone health over time, which could reduce the effectiveness of this supplement.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Calcichew D3 Forte is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. This medicine does not cause drowsiness or impair alertness. If you experience any unusual symptoms after taking this medicine, exercise caution and seek advice if needed.
