Buscopan IBS Relief tablets are designed to relieve the painful symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including stomach cramps, spasms, bloating, and discomfort. Each tablet contains hyoscine butylbromide, a trusted antispasmodic medicine that helps to ease gut pain quickly and effectively.

How It Works

Hyoscine butylbromide works by relaxing the smooth muscle of the gut wall, which helps to relieve the painful spasms and cramps associated with IBS. By reducing these involuntary muscle contractions, it helps to ease bloating and discomfort, allowing your digestive system to settle down more comfortably.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take 1 tablet three times a day as needed. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not exceed 3 tablets in 24 hours. This medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• Children under 12 years of age
• People with myasthenia gravis (a muscle-weakening condition)
• People with megacolon (an enlarged or dilated bowel)
• People with a known allergy to hyoscine butylbromide or any other ingredient in the tablet
• People with narrow-angle glaucoma
• People with a blockage of the digestive tract or urinary tract

Interactions

Buscopan IBS Relief may interact with other medicines that have anticholinergic properties, such as certain antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants, and medicines used to treat Parkinson’s disease, potentially increasing the risk of side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, and difficulty urinating. Metoclopramide and domperidone (medicines used to treat nausea) may reduce the effectiveness of Buscopan IBS Relief when taken together. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of hyoscine butylbromide during pregnancy has not been fully established, and it is not recommended during pregnancy unless advised by a doctor. It is not known whether hyoscine butylbromide passes into breast milk, so caution is advised if you are breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between Buscopan IBS Relief and alcohol. However, alcohol can irritate the digestive system and may worsen IBS symptoms, so it is generally advisable to limit alcohol consumption if you are experiencing an IBS flare-up.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Buscopan IBS Relief may cause blurred vision or dizziness in some people. If you are affected in this way, do not drive or operate machinery until these effects have passed. If you are unsure whether this medicine affects your ability to drive, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
