Benadryl Allergy Relief – 48 Capsules

Benadryl Allergy Relief Capsules are used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever and other allergies, such as sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, and itchy, watery eyes. The active ingredient, acrivastine, is a fast-acting antihistamine that helps to ease these uncomfortable symptoms quickly.

    How It Works

Acrivastine belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. When your body encounters an allergen (such as pollen, dust, or pet dander), it releases a chemical called histamine, which causes allergy symptoms. Acrivastine works by blocking histamine receptors, reducing the allergic response and relieving your symptoms.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 12 years and over: take one capsule (8 mg) up to three times a day. Capsules should be swallowed whole with water. Do not take more than three capsules in 24 hours. This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Possible Side Effects

    • Drowsiness or feeling sleepy
    • Headache
    • Dry mouth
    • Nausea
    • Dizziness
    • Skin rash or allergic reactions (rare)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • Adults aged 65 years and over (unless advised by a doctor)
    • People with kidney problems
    • People who are allergic to acrivastine, triprolidine, or any other ingredient in the capsules
    • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding (unless advised by a doctor)
    • People taking other sedating medicines, including sleeping tablets or tranquillisers

    Interactions

Acrivastine may interact with other medicines that cause drowsiness, including sleeping tablets, sedatives, anxiety medicines, and some antidepressants. It may also interact with certain medicines used to treat fungal infections (such as ketoconazole) or bacterial infections (such as erythromycin). Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Benadryl Allergy Relief Capsules are not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding, as acrivastine may pass into breast milk and the effects on an unborn baby are not fully known. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol whilst taking Benadryl Allergy Relief Capsules. Alcohol can increase the sedative effect of acrivastine, making you feel more drowsy and increasing the risk of side effects.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Although acrivastine is classed as a non-sedating antihistamine, it can still cause drowsiness in some people. You should check how this medicine affects you before driving or operating machinery. If you feel sleepy or less alert after taking this medicine, do not drive or use machinery.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
